So...My kids have been sick all this week. On Monday I made an appointment for Chloe and Emmeline to see the Pediatrician after a tough weekend of high fevers, yucky noses and terrible nighttime coughing. I don't usually run to the doc for every sniffle and fever, but I listened to my "Mama's Sense" and boy, am I glad I did! Chloe has pneumonia! Emme wasn't there yet, but Dr.Jared treated her with an antibiotic just the same. The antibiotic helped within 24 hours or so, but the cough syrup worked within the first 45 minutes or so, and that was great! Sleeping instead of coughing until you barf on Mom and the bed is great.
Now the kids are much better, and guess who's sick today??? You guessed it. ME!
I guess nearly no sleep, sick kids, canning 5 half-gallons and 28 quarts of pickles, and spending several hours getting the Talley Knives forum up and running will do that to a girl! Go figure!

On a high note, the postman brought me a box from The Soap Maven filled with all sorts of yummy hand-crafted soap, lotion bars and lip moisturizer. It was better than Christmas! Hooray for Kate! I have so many allergies and my skin is so sensitive I haven't been able to use yummy smelling soaps and stuff for ages! It really made my day. Apparently baby Emme thought it smelled yummy too, she got ahold of a bar that is now scored by her two tiny little bottom teeth! I love getting mail.

So....today is the day! The first day of the rest of my life! I am going to get organized!! I tackled one of the bedrooms and was able to eliminate a bunch of stuff...now only 2 more bedrooms, 2 baths, the laundry room and kitchen left to go!!!! Wish me luck. I think I need some caffiene...too bad I am not a coffee drinker.

So, here's my basic introduction! My name is Kate, I am the wife of Eldon, my best friend and soul mate. We have 4 daughters. I am a farmgirl living the suburban life, but I am making plans for a new home on a few acres....somewhere....
I love to read, I like kids and pets; for some reason I am that person who always finds lost children and animals. I love being outside and I crave that complete quiet that only exists in nature. I believe child abuse is the biggest health threat in our nation. I have an interest in sustainable living and natural building. I am a glass-half-full kinda girl. I am a survivor.

I am looking forward to building our Knifemaking business, moving to country so someday I can park in my garage again....currently it's full of tools and machines!
